The booze cruise guide to spending money in FranceMost - if not all - of the outlets we have highlighted accept the major credit cards, so we have found that it is possible to spend the day without having to change any cash.  Most outlets use chip and PIN, though occassionally a signature may be required. Some outlets insist on seeing your passport when you pay by card.

It may be a good idea to telephone your credit card company before you travel, as unusual card activity can lead to card purchases being blocked in case the use is fraudulant.

Our Emergency Details form gives you the opportunity to record your important details in case of emergency, or in case you lose your cards or documents. A lost or stolen bank card, credit card or cheque book should be reported to the nearest Police Station to the place in which the theft happened. The police will provide a certificate for your issuing authority (bank, etc.) and insurance company. This is a Récépissé de declaration de vol.

All the outlets we have highlighted have free parking either on site, or on adjacent roads.

If required, cash can be changed on the ferry and most of the French "hole in the wall" machines accept the major credit/debit cards.

At the moment, one Pound will buy around 1.2 Euros.

Most of the outlets price their goods in Pounds and Euros. The exchange rate can vary daily, so the conversion tends to apply to the rates on a certain date. Receipts are usually given in Euros. Check your receipt before leaving the store.

WARNING: If you choose to pay by cash, make certain that you ask about the exchange rate first. There can be HUGE variations between the outlets and it can turn your new found bargains into expensive luxuries!

When you use your credit card abroad, most outlets print receipts in Euros. You can find out how much you spent, by clicking on the bottle below.

If you are about to change some British Pounds into Euros, click the bottle to find out how many you might get.
