Insurance
| You are advised to make use of the new European Health Insurance Card, which is available free of charge from main Post offices or online here. This confirms your entitlement to treatment under the French health scheme. However, this is not as comprehensive as the British system and would probably not cover all your costs in the event of accident or injury abroad. Also, it operates on a refund system, so you would be likely to have to pay "up front" and then claim the money back afterwards. Please note that if you possess one of the old E.111 certificates, it is no longer valid. Travellers are strongly advised to investigate travel insurance. It can be very cheap and could be well worth the trouble. GoSure Ltd, for example, have day trip policies starting at £2.41 for basic medical cover. (Please note that any insurance mentioned on this site does not constitute advice nor recommendation.) |
